CEO Richard Blech Featured On NBC

Secure Channels Inc. CEO Richard Blech featured in NBC story on the DHS plans to open a Silicon Valley office, working with security companies to improve cyber security.

Department of Homeland Security to Open Silicon Valley Satellite Office

The Department of Homeland Security plans to open a satellite office in Silicon Valley to fight cyber threats. The department wants to work with tech companies to beef up cyber security as well as hire Silicon Valley engineers for government jobs.

Jeh Johnson, the Homeland Security secretary, made the announcement Tuesday at the RSA conference in San Francisco, the Daily Beast reported.

DHS also tweeted it out: “At #RSAC, Sec. Johnson announces #DHS will open satellite office in Silicon Valley to help serve our friends there. #DHSatRSA

DHS also followed up with this tweet: “Those of us at this conference must leave here and encourage others to practice good cyber hygiene. -Sec Johnson.”

“We want to strengthen critical relationships in Silicon Valley and ensure that the government and the private sector benefit from each other’s research and development,” Johnson said while delivering a keynote address on the future of cybersecurity at DHS.

Hundreds of cybersecurity experts, hackers and journalists are attending this year’s RSA conference at Moscone Center.

Johnson said DHS wants to work with tech companies to ramp up cyber security, something President Barack Obama has also made a priority. Earlier this year, Obama signed an executive order encouraging cyberthreat information sharing at a summit at Stanford.

Calling cyberspace the new “Wild West,” Obama asked the private sector to do more to stop cyber attacks aimed at the U.S. every day.
